The older I get, the more grateful I am for this incarnation on our blue-green planet. What an adventure!
People often say I’m prescient, pointing to my three books on emerging trends as proof. “Julia sees things others don’t,” is how one client put it (my teenage stepsons weren’t so sure that was a plus, “Julia notices everything!” was a regular lament). Let’s attribute whatever foresight I have to nature (I’m curious and creative) and nurture (I’ve cultivated my powers of observation).
I’ve been incredibly fortunate to work with enthusiastic clients as my communications practice evolved over 30 years to incorporate speechwriting (CEOs, cabinet ministers, celebrities), content production (videos through websites), and advice (problem-solving, insight). Entre nous, without such innovation I’d be bored stiff.
The other surprise of being 50-plus? Having travelled to and lived in many places, I once considered myself a global citizen. Now I see how deeply attached I am to Toronto. Nestled between the Great Lakes, the land reminds me of my Scottish and Ojibwe ancestors and my kayak is never far from the glories of Georgian Bay.
If my story resonates with you, let’s talk. I suspect you share my joie de vivre and, like me, feel you’re just getting started.
You know that just presenting ideas and information isn’t enough to engage an audience, much less change their thinking or behaviour. Instead, you’re looking for someone who will tune your message so that it resonates with people.
Since 1985, she’s been moving audiences – and driving innovation, productivity, and growth.
